Definitions and Products

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is the second most prevalent bioactive constituent of the Cannabis sativa plant and is one of the over 80 cannabinoids that have been found in the plant. Originally isolated in 1940, CBD has been deeply studied in the last decade and it appears in over 1200 PubMed publications. Unlike the THC which is the psychoactive principle of Cannabis, Cannabidiol completely lacks psychoactivity.

What is THC?

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is the prevalent bioactive constituent of the Cannabis plant and is responsible for most of its psychological effects. Mostly consumed by smoking for recreational purposes, it’s also available in oils, edibles, tinctures, capsules, and more. It's ingestion results in sedation, euphoria, relaxation and loss of social inhibition. The intensity and duration of symptoms is proportional to the concentration of THC in the blood. In most countries worldwide any product containing more than 0.3% of THC is illegal. However, the European Medicine Agency (EMA) and the U.S. The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) has started to approve some drugs that contain individual cannabinoids like THC. All Fiorhe products are THC free.

What is Phyto-Complex?

The phyto-complex is a chemical compound produced by plants. The cannabis sativa plant phyto-complex accounts for a big variety of chemical compounds, with over 400 chemical entities of which more than 80 of them are cannabinoids, some of them with opposing effects. The Phyto-complex advantage is the molecular synergism due to the combined effect of all the molecules. In fact a single molecule cannot reproduce the effect that the whole complex induces in the human body.

Fiorhe tries to use the whole Phyto-complex of the Cannabis plant, but due to the THC free requirement, this results impossible. Following the supercritical process needed for the CBD extraction our team carefully selects which chemicals to integrate in the products in order to obtain a more complete and holistic formula.

Hemp oil vs Hemp seed oil

Hemp oil is a generic term for CBD oil and usually contains the whole phyto-complex of the Cannabis Sativa plant.
On the other end, Hemp seed oil, as suggested by the name, comes from the cannabis seeds, and it is usually used as carrier oil.

Effects

What are the effects of CBD?

Under medical supervision and in some cases CBD is used globally for a variety of indications such as manage and treat the seizure disorders Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome. In numerous studies, CBD was able to reduce the number of seizures, and, in some cases, stop them altogether.
Studies, and research in humans, suggest CBD may also help with: Anxiety, Insomnia, Chronic pain and Addiction.

Other research identifies how CBD may inhibit inflammatory and neuropathic pain, which are difficult to treat.

What are the side effects of CBD?

Some of the most common side effects of CBD for edible products include tiredness, diarrheal, and a change in appetite or weight.

Contact dermatitis may be a side effect of skin cream, but study found that this can occur with any topical lotion, not just CBD skin creams. Some individuals may have concerns about the use of CBD in medications, and for this reason, we always suggest to consult your medical practitioner before using any type of CBD product in conjunction with any medication.

However, Fiorhe CBD products are THC free, therefore they will not make a person feel high or give THC related side effects.

How CBD works?

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is present at essentially all levels of the anterolateral system, which is responsible for the perception and modulation of pain. In addition to its effects on the ECS, CBD interacts with other important signalling systems involved in the regulation of pain. The Endocannabinoid System is defined as the biological system that regulate a wide range of activities, including:

- appetite and digestion,
- metabolism,
- chronic pain,
- inflammation and other immune system responses,
- mood,
- learning and memory,
- motor control,
- sleep,
- cardiovascular system function,
- muscle formation,
- bone remodelling and growth,
- liver function,
- reproductive system function,
- stress,
- skin and nerve function.
